Information we collect
- Account information, including your email address and encrypted login credentials handled by our authentication provider.
- Profile information you choose to add, such as your community name, borough, approximate neighborhood, experience, biography, and profile photo.
- Community activity, including anonymous stories, private messages, message requests, blocks, and reports.
- Parent job-posting details, private contact information, payment status, and nanny applications.
- Basic technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as device, browser, security, and error logs.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account, save your profile, and provide community features.
- To display discoverable profiles using approximate neighborhoods—never exact home, work, or live locations.
- To prevent abuse, investigate reports, enforce our rules, and maintain service reliability.
- To communicate account confirmations, password resets, important safety notices, and policy updates.
What other members can see
Members may see your community name, profile photo, biography, experience, borough, and approximate neighborhood when your profile is discoverable. Your email address and exact location are not displayed.
Stories labeled anonymous do not publicly show your name or email. They remain privately linked to your account so reports and serious safety concerns can be investigated.
Private messages
Private messages are visible to conversation participants and may be reviewed by authorized administrators when necessary to investigate a report, enforce safety rules, comply with law, or protect a person from harm. Do not share passwords, financial information, exact addresses, or children’s private information.
Job listings and applications
Public job listings show general position details, approximate neighborhood, schedule, compensation, duties and benefits. Parent names, email addresses and exact locations are kept private. Applications are visible to the applicant, the parent who owns the listing, and authorized administrators. A nanny’s saved profile and application message are shared with that parent when the nanny applies.
Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers for authentication, database storage, photo storage, email delivery, security, and website hosting. They process information to provide those services. We may also disclose information when legally required or when reasonably necessary to protect members, children, the public, or the service.
We do not currently sell members’ personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Your choices
- Edit your profile and turn off map discoverability at any time.
- Remove your profile photo, block members, and report content or conversations.
- Request account or data deletion through the site administrator using the in-app reporting tools. Some records may be retained when required for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
Security and retention
We use access controls and row-level database security designed to keep accounts, messages, and moderation data separated. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, enforce our rules, and meet legal obligations.
Adults only
The Nanny Whisperers is intended for adults age 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and children may not create accounts. Members must never create profiles for children or upload identifying information about them.
Changes and questions
We may update this policy as the website and mobile app develop. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date. Privacy or deletion questions may be submitted through the in-app reporting tools.
